Adventist Studies

Designed for students with a first degree and some professional experience, the M.T.S. programme offers students continuing education in the field of theology to broaden their horizon and deepen their knowledge in a selected area of emphasis. The general modules require Biblical Studies, studies in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology and Studies in Religion. Special attention is given to the contextualization of religious experience in history and society.
The Adventist Studies emphasis encompasses advanced studies of the history and theology of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It leads students to a better comprehension of the development, self-understanding and societal role of the denomination and enables them to serve in leading functions in the church or work in the field of inter-church relations. At least 50% (60 of 120) ETCS credits-including the Master's Thesis-are related to the selected area of emphasis.

The M.T.S. program is offered both

  • as a two-year full-time study program (4 semesters, 15 weeks each)

  • as a four-year part-time study program (8 intensive courses, three weeks each)

Students may enter the program each semester. The autumn/winter semester lasts from October until January, the spring/summer semester from March till June. The intensive courses are given during this period.
