Friedensau Adventist University (FAU) is located in Jerichower Land District, in Saxony-Anhalt State, one of the 16 states that form the Federal Republic of Germany. It is situated at about 30 km (nearly 19 miles) from Magdeburg, the headquarters of Saxony-Anhalt, and at about 100 km (about 62 miles) from Berlin, the capital city of GERMANY. Jerichower Land District is actually located in the very centre of Europe.
Spiritual Life
As an Adventist Christian value oriented university, FAU offers a wonderful environment for spiritual growth. Morning worship is held by lecturers and course participants every morning. Students can attend daily evening worship organized at the Senior Citizen’s Home. A biweekly “Meeting Under the Word” is held on Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m. in the Aula for all staff, lecturers and students. Every weekend, worship meetings are organized for students, university personnel, guests, and any other interested person.
International Choir
The International Choir was inaugurated toward the tail-end of last year 2009. Since then, it had featured in quite a number of religious functions both within and without the university community. At present, the international choir counts ca. 20 members. It staged a Christmas carol for the prison inmates and staff of Möckern Prison and also performed at the Old People's Home in Friedensau and during the church services of Friedensau congregation. The choir defines as its purpose, proclamation of the "everlasting gospel" within the University neighborhood and beyond.
Daily Living
FAU has a beautiful campus and the environment is excellent for studies and research. In addition, Ihle shop sells several items and provides postal services. In case you wish to have a personal bank account, you can opt to have one at Sparkasse Bank which allows you to do your banking transactions both online and with their personnel who visit Friedensau once a week. Nevertheless, several other banks such as the Commercial Bank and German Bank can be found in Burg, the nearest town to the University.
Being Connected
Public transportation is available daily except on Sundays and on holidays toward Möckern (10 km from Friedensau) and Burg (14 km from Friedensau). There, you can get many services such as shopping in a supermarket, train or bus connections toward other towns, medical services, etc.
