Institute for Family and Social Issues
The institute researches social issues from a theological perspective. Emphasis is on aspects of personal circumstances, such as socialization, identity and social environment, women’s and family issues. Against the background of a pluralistic society, presenting challenges to the family and the individual, our research investigates how and under what circumstances do Adventist theological concepts help to balance existing problems. One of the research projects undertaken compared the sexual behaviour of pupils with a Christian orientation to the sexual behaviour non-Christian pupils. At present, research is being conducted on the fluctuation among Adventist pastors.
Faculty from both the School of Theology and Social Science are members of the institute as well as external professionals.
