On Sunday, July 2nd, 2017, the diplomas were handed over to the graduates of the GemeindeFernStudium in the Friedensau chapel. After three years of distance learning, the participants of the Siegen group are prepared to participate in the preaching service, in mission and management tasks of the municipalities.
GemeindeFernStudium is an educational offer by the Church of the Seventh-Day Adventists in Germany for the theological qualification of church members. It is open for all seventh-day Adventists; it’s held in German language. In Wasserburg, Leipzig and Gunzenhausen are currently the consultation places. The Fernstudium is managed by lecturers and graduates of the Theologische Hochschule Friedensau. However, it does not lead to the university degree, but to a church-internal certificate. In the three study years (church history / STA history, dogmatics, homiletics / community leadership), theological knowledge is combined with applied exercises in order to achieve a great practical approach. The theological basic knowledge receives a deepening, but one’s faith is also strengthened on this foundation.
GemeindeFernStudium was introduced about 40 years ago and since then has been a successful project to strengthen the Advent community. Registrations are possible at www.thh-friedensau.de/studium/weiterbildung/gemeinde-fernstudium.
