Professor of Old Testament

Friedensau Adventist University (Theologische Hochschule Friedensau) is a state-recognized institution of higher learning of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It has a School of Theology and a School of Christian Social Science.

The School of Theology will employ a

Professor of Old Testament

starting from September 1, 2017, or at the earliest possible later date. This is either a full professor position or a tenure track position (“lecturer”). The candidate will cover the entire field of Old Testament in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes at the school. Main areas are introduction to Old Testament, Old Testament theology, and the history of Israel and the Ancient Near East. In addition he or she will be involved in Hebrew examinations. We also expect knowledge and experience in biblical archaeology. Most of the teaching is in German, some of it in English.

The profile of the position requires a personality with a definite interest in research; experience in acquiring exterior funding is desirable. We also expect willingness to be involved in academic committees and in managing and further developing course offerings. Moreover, we require readiness for interdisciplinary cooperation.

The prerequisites for employment are set out in § 35 (1) and (2), no. 1–4a and (3) (for the full professorship) and § 40 HSG LSA (for the tenure track position). In addition, the candidate must be a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and should have professional experience as a pastor for several years. Remuneration is according to the financial guidelines of the university. It is expected that full-time teaching staff take their residence on campus in the area around Friedensau.

Professor in Counseling and Pastoral Care

The School of Christian Social Sciences is seeking to fill the Position of a

Professor in Counseling and Pastoral Care

starting October 2017. The successful candidate will chair the MA in Counseling program and teach in relevant areas of other degree programs of the department. In addition the position entails close cooperation with Practical Theology in the School of Theology.
