Institute for Families and Social Research

The institute has set itself the task of taking up and researching social issues from the point of view of theology. Focal points are questions of personal circumstances such as socialization, identity and social environment, women’s and family issues. Against the background of the plural society, with its challenges for the family and the individual, the aim is to explore, amongst other things, to what extent and in what circumstances Adventist theological concepts can offer help. So far, the sexual behaviour of school pupils with a Christian orientation in comparison to non-Christian ones has been examined. A study on fluctuation among Adventist pastors is underway.

Members of the institute come from the Schools of Theology and Social Sciences, or are practising professionals.
