Principles of Friedensau Adventist University for study and life on campus<\/h3>\n

PATRONAGE<\/h5>\n

The Theologische Hochschule Friedensau (hereinafter known as ThHF) is an educational establishment run by the Free Church of the Seventh-Day Adventists in Europe, which, in its capacity as patron of the college of theology recognised by the state on 01.01.1990, established the \"Anstalten der Freikirche der Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten Friedensau e.V.\" as a non-profit-making body.<\/p>\n

The work of Adventist schools is based upon religious belief and conviction. The aim of the course of study at the ThHF is to provide a holistic education based upon the Biblical concept of human beings. Holistic means that in addition to the courses available leading to academic qualifications, there will be opportunities for the development of spiritual life, and to play sports, opportunities to which all college members will be invited.<\/p>\n

CONDUCT<\/h5>\n

The ThHF admits students of all beliefs and religions prepared to accept the Adventist nature of the school. It is expected from teachers and students alike that they accept the social, religious and cultural origins of others and respect the dignity of all people. Smoking, and the consumption of alcohol and drug-taking is forbidden on campus. It is essential that students are sincere and honest with each other, and observe all contractual agreements and promise to obey the law. Since the reciprocal encouragement to lead a spiritual life is an important objective of communal life at ThHF, we are happy to invite everyone to all relevant events.<\/p>\n

The principles upon which life on campus is based<\/h3>\n

MUTUAL CONSIDERATION<\/h5>\n

Students will be living in close proximity with one another on the ThHF campus. Depending upon the type of accommodation chosen, students will either be sharing sanitaryware in apartments or halls of residence, or else they may be sharing rooms with other students. Communal living with little privacy presents particular challenges in terms of the willingness to show consideration for fellow residents and that each individual student may have to modify his conduct to comply with the rules. These common rules are included in the general rental terms forming a compulsory set of regulations governing conduct, based upon the patron\u2019s religious orientation. In addition to these, students must be economical in their use of natural resources (in particular water, electricity and heating) and show consideration when using the property of ThHF, so that many other students may benefit from their use.<\/p>\n

MULTICULTURALISM<\/h5>\n

In general, students from more than 20 different countries from all continents will be living on campus. Those students living on campus must be prepared to be aware of, and respect, the cultural requirements of others. This applies not only to personal matters (personal proximity and distance), but to conduct as well (i.e. when using the property of others). Basically, all residents on campus are expected to respect the requirements of communal life as explicitly laid down in discussed agreements, and not to assume that others are aware of one\u2019s personal culture, or that it will be tacitly accepted.<\/p>\n

RELIGION<\/h5>\n

Students and staff of different religions living and working on campus are expected to show mutual respect and consideration for others. Nevertheless, life and work will be dominated by the Patron\u2019s denomination in that it is an Adventist establishment. Prayer and worship, prayer groups or pastoral care will be offered by the chaplain of the ThHF for everyone. COMMUNAL MEALS<\/h5>\n

ThHF offers all residents at Friedensau healthy, balanced vegetarian food at subsidised prices in the canteen. Students ought to take advantage of this facility, even if there is no obligation to eat in the canteen. Cooking in bedrooms is forbidden as a fire prevention measure.
