Friedensau Adventist University (FAU) is mourning for the former Prorector<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr. phil. Winfried Noack<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Saturday, Winfried Noack (91) died in the presence of his family. He was co-founder of the School of Social Sciences in 1992 and taught at Friedensau Adventist University as professor of social sciences and applied theology until 2009.<\/p>\n

Winfried Noack, who was born in Breslau, studied theology at the Theological Seminary Marienh\u00f6he and German philology, history, geography, and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. While working as a lecturer from 1965 until 1992 at Schulzentrum Marienh\u00f6he in Darmstadt, he was ordained as pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1962 and got a PhD at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1966.<\/p>\n

As of 1992, he and his wife Renate Noack started developing the study program in the School of Social Sciences. He was a founding member of the Institute for Theological and Social Science Research on Church Development and Mission and of the Institute for Integrative Child, Youth, and Adult Work, to which he was appointed director. In 1995, he was appointed professor, and in 2000, Friedensau Adventist University elected him as prorector for seven years.<\/p>\n

He combined his extensive scientific work with practical projects in the surroundings of Friedensau and later on in Darmstadt, where he and his wife spent their retirement. The warmth of the two always conveyed a feeling of commitment and acceptance.<\/p>\n
