The film \"Revolution with bare hands. The career of a people. Burkina Faso\" is a cinematic document of remembrance of the popular uprising in Burkina Faso on 30 and 31 October 2014 against the dictatorial regime of Blaise Compaor\u00e9. The film approached protagonists of the revolution and visited symbolic places. It asked about the reasons, which are rooted in the living conditions of the population as well as in the memory of past struggles in earlier decades.<br \/>\nOusmane Miphal Lankoande was invited as a guest. He is a member of the board of Balai Citoyen. During his short stay in Germany, Miphal was keen to make his social movement better known.<br \/>\nThe \"Balai Citoyen\" (in German: b\u00fcrgerlicher Besen) is a social movement in Burkina Faso that was founded in 2013. One year later, it was instrumental in the popular uprising against the dictatorial regime of Blaise Compaor\u00e9 in Burkina Faso. To this day, as part of the critical civil society in Burkina Faso, Balai Citoyen has made it its mission, both through political pressure and concrete policy proposals, to hold those in power accountable and to promote the active and responsible participation of the population in all public affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The film is in French with English subtitles, the discussion will be in English\/French with translation. The evening was hosted by Dr Jill Blau, lecturer in the SChool of Social Work.
