With a short address in the chapel of the Otto L\u00fcpke House, Rector Prof. Dr. phil. Roland Fischer welcomed the new students on behalf of the university management. In a small ceremony, he stated programmatically: \u2018Study and education serve two purposes: the development of one's own personality and preparation for a place in society in professional and voluntary work.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>This year, 50 new students enrolled in the study programmes. Twelve students are studying theology \u2013 nine of whom are first-year students starting their bachelor's degree in theology; three are continuing their studies in various master's programmes in theology. 38 students are starting their studies in the School of Social Sciences. The largest group is enrolled in English-language programmes (14 B.A. International Social Work; 20 M.A. Development Studies), while four students are enrolled in the M.A. Counseling study programme in German. In addition to Germany, the new students come from 17 different countries, including Ethiopia, Burundi, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Congo, Liberia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Norway, Austria, Rwanda, Russia, Serbia, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania and Hungary. We warmly welcome all new students and wish them every success in their studies.<\/p>\n<p>At the weekend, on Saturday, 11 October 2025, at 10 a.m., the service marking the start of the academic year will take place in the chapel, and on the evening of the same day, at 7:30 p.m., a concert with Melina Godina &amp; Band, entitled \u2018Life from a Christian Perspective\u2019, will take place in the Barn.<\/p>\n<p>Friedensau was founded in 1899 and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2024. Founded in 1899 as a mission and industrial school, the Friedensau Adventist University, a state-recognised university sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, continues the tradition as an Adventist educational institution.
