It will be organised and chaired by Prof. Stefan H\u00f6schele, Director of the Institute and Professor of Systematic Theology at the Friedensau Adventist University, and Bernd M\u00fcller, Ph.D., Director of the Historical Archives for European Adventist History. The theme focuses on the current state of Adventist studies and their future prospects, not only in Germany but worldwide. The Institute for Adventist Studies, which is responsible for organising regular symposia and promoting academic exchange among Adventist researchers, has a relatively broad scope of work. Recent milestones \u2013 such as the Oxford Handbook of Seventh-day Adventism, the online encyclopaedia Encyclopedia of Seventh-day Adventists, and two volumes of annotated early manuscripts and letters by Ellen White \u2013 bear witness to the current state of research. The academic discourse on the origins of Seventh-day Adventists, their diverse development and their<\/p>\n

The focus is on the academic discourse concerning the origins of the Seventh-day Adventists, their diverse development and their global presence as a free church.<\/p>\n

This symposium aims to identify future directions by evaluating achievements and breakthroughs, and by discussing challenges and areas for further development in this field and its research practices. The topics are divided into Adventist historiography in general (Day 1), regional historiography (Day 2), Adventist biblical interpretation and Ellen White studies (Day 3), and Adventist theology and ethics (Day 4).<\/p>\n

Renowned theologians and experts have been invited as speakers. The target audience includes academics from diverse backgrounds, teachers, pastors, archivists, and anyone with an interest in the field of Adventist studies. The symposium\u2019s presentations will be delivered primarily in English and published as part of the series \u2018Adventistisca. Studies in Adventist History and Theology. The town of Friedensau was founded in 1899 and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2024. It is home to the state-recognised Friedensau Adventist University, a higher education institution run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ten BA and MA degree programmes \u2013 some of which can be studied part-time or online \u2013 are available in the Schools of Social Sciences and Theology: https:\/\/www.thh-friedensau.de.<\/p>\n
