Ali Akkouch will conduct the evening. Admission is free; donations are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The concert takes place shortly before the end of the academic year. It also marks the conclusion of the extraordinary commitment of theology student Ali Akkouch, who took over the choir\u2019s work at the university outside of his regular coursework while serving as a student assistant during a long-term substitution. With this concert, Ali Akkouch presents the ensemble\u2019s vocal achievements to the audience, drawing on his newly gained conducting experience.<\/p>\n<p>The program features the film scores \u201cConquest of Paradise,\u201d known from the film \u201c1492: Conquest of Paradise\u201d starring G\u00e9rard Depardieu as Christopher Columbus; \u201cI Will Follow Him\u201d from \u201cSister Act\u201d starring Whoopi Goldberg; \u201cWhen You Believe\u201d from \u201cThe Prince of Egypt,\u201d \u201cCan You Feel the Love Tonight\u201d accompanies the Disney classic \u201cThe Lion King.\u201d Ali Akkouch selected the pieces together with the choir\u2019s singers. Akkouch is highly musical; he plays several instruments, including the flute, piano, and guitar.<\/p>\n<p>With the \u201cFilm Music\u201d concert, visitors are in for a musical evening that once again demonstrates just how exciting a concert can be\u2014and shows just how much more inspiring it is to sing and make music yourself. A little tip: The choir is always happy to welcome new members; regular choir rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings during the semester.
