Before the regular start of the winter semester: Hebrew course begins

12. Sep. 2025

On 8 September 2025, four weeks before the regular start of the academic year, the Hebrew language course began at Friedensau Adventist University (FAU). Prof. Martin Klingbeil, who teaches Old Testament at the university, is teaching the basics of this Old Testament language in a four-week intensive course. The majority of the participants are prospective theology students; they began the course without any prior knowledge. Students at the university will continue their language studies during the 2025/26 academic year and will complete the Hebraicum examination at the end of the 2026 summer semester.

Every year, the Institute of Languages at Friedensau Adventist University offers a language course in biblical languages during the four weeks before the start of the academic year. In 2024, it was Biblical Greek, followed by Hebrew this year, and then Greek again in 2026. Even experienced pastors can register for the course and thus embark on further training. Information is available from the Dean of Theology: and our website: https://www.thh-friedensau.de/uebersicht-der-studiengaenge/weiterbildung/sprachkurs/

The Friedensau Adventist University is a state-recognised university sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Here, ten BA and MA degree programmes – some of which can be taken alongside work, online or part-time – can be studied in the fields of Christian social work and theology. Around 40 nations are represented among the students and teaching staff.
