Donation cheque handed over

10. Oct. 2025

The 2025 ‘Forest Run for a Good Cause’ took place on 27 April 2025 – in beautiful spring weather. Now, at the beginning of the academic year in autumn, the accounts were ready and the donation could be handed over to the selected charitable organisation on 10 October 2025. The student council of Friedensau Adventist University (FAU), the organiser of the event, chose the institution ‘Lebenswert. Offene Hilfen für Menschen mit Behinderung gGmbH’ (Worth Living. Open Assistance for People with Disabilities) in Möckern as the recipient of the donations from the 2025 ‘Forest Run for a Good Cause’.

And there was great joy here. In the presence of District Administrator Dr Steffen Burchhardt, patron of the forest run, representatives of the Lebenswert organisation, Britta Hotzel and Klara Sandvoß, members of the FAU Student Council, Kathrin Taraba and Uriel Agbojo, the representative of Stadtwerke Burg, Elke Schütze, as one of the main sponsors, and FSJ volunteer Nele Koch (also FAU), the donation cheque for €3,200 was ceremoniously presented. Around 67 runners took part in April, running two different distances – a shorter 600-metre lap and a longer 1,600-metre lap. The ‘Lebenswert’ facility participated with around 20 people: employees, parents and young people. In addition to Burg Municipal Utilities, the Friedensau University Foundation also made a donation, rounding up the amount. The money will be used for additional leisure activities. www.lebenswertggmbh.de.

The tenth ‘Forest Run for a Good Cause’, an anniversary forest run, will take place on 26 April 2026 in Friedensau. Some project proposals for the 2026 charity cause have already been received; they are subject to strict rules – they must be charitable and regional in nature – and can still be submitted: https://www.thh-friedensau.de/ spenden/waldlauf/ (Text: Andrea Cramer).
