FAU offered COVID19 tests
23. Oct. 2020
After the outbreak of Corona on campus, the university today offered free COVID19 tests to Friedensauer students, employees and staff. In order to prevent the virus from spreading further, the schoolchildren from Friedensau as well as the employees and children of the public kindergarten are invited to a voluntary test at the expense of the university. The testing strategy is coordinated with the public health department and is intended to help create relative safety for those who have to go out into the environment - such as to school or work - and are worried about spreading the virus unintentionally. We have encouraged the parents of the children from Friedensau to wait for the test results before sending their children back to the schools and kindergartens. So far the test offer has been very well received. First test results are expected in time for Sunday morning.
The test offer became possible because the mayor of Möckern, Frank von Holly, established contact with the Wiesenhof company. Wiesenhof has built up test capacities as part of its company health care program, which now also benefit Friedensauern and thus the surrounding towns and the district. We are very grateful for the willingness to act quickly and unbureaucratically to limit the pandemic by making these test capacities available.
Currently, the students who tested positive and their contact persons are still in domestic quarantine. Visits to Friedensau are currently not recommended. We hope that the testing will provide a secure data basis as soon as possible, which will also make it possible to visit the residents of the retirement home again.
