University library participates in NewstartPlus® programme

26. Jan. 2026

Since the end of December 2025, the library of Friedensau Adventist University has been implementing the first elements of the NewstartPlus programme in an adaptation for libraries. NewstartPlus® is a modern, internationally renowned, scientifically proven and holistic health concept. Each letter of NewstartPlus stands for a principle that has a decisive influence on health, happiness and quality of life. The elements of the programme are nutrition, exercise, water, sunshine, temperance, air, rest, trust, priorities, optimism, integrity and relationships (in English, the initial letters of these terms spell NEWSTARTPLUS).

Inside the building, the university library now offers a sports corner where visitors can try out dumbbells, push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and stretching exercises – in other words, ‘functional sports’. This area covers around 10 square metres and is located in a quiet area on the upper floor of the library. The fitness corner can be used free of charge during the library's regular opening hours. The implementation of other elements of the NewstartPlus programme is planned. We asked library director Raul Cervantes for more detailed information about NewstartPlus and the library's plans in an interview.
