Campaign “Children Help Children!”

01. Dec. 2023 / Campus Living

On World Children's Day, September 20, ADRA Germany, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, launched its annual "Children Help Children!" campaign. The campaign was launched more than 20 years ago with the aim of improving the lives of children in Eastern Europe and sending them a small gift package at Christmas time. The Adventist churches in and around Friedensau have been involved in this campaign for many years. A team led by Renate Dost, Head of Counseling and Social Affairs at the Friedensau Adventist University (FAU), collects the parcels from the surrounding communities and prepares them for collection.
This year, the parcels will be sent to a children's home in Bulgaria, but – in accordance with ADRA Deutschland e.V.'s specifications – they have to be opened again, meticulously checked and sealed and glued ready for dispatch before being sent. This year, students on the M.A. Development Studies course took part in this labor-intensive intermediate step.
Over 100 parcels passed through the hands of the helpers. A total of seven pallets can now be collected by the shipping company on November 30, 2023, which will take the freight to Bulgaria. We wish the children joy and happiness at Christmas – and a happy Advent and Christmas season to them and all the helpers.
