Mourning Fritz Gottfried Henke

The Friedensau Adventist University mourns the passing of Fritz Gottfried Henke

*December 15, 1944 † February 9, 2026

Gottfried Henke worked in the gardens of the Friedensau facilities from 1980 to 1993. He passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2026, after a short stay in Burg Hospital.
Gottfried Henke was born on December 15, 1944, in Sohland/Spree. After completing his training, he worked as a gardener in Burg. There he met his wife and moved with her to Friedensau in 1980 when a new manager was sought for the gardening department. He worked in Friedensau until the nursery closed after German reunification. Together with his wife Thea, who died in 2019, he was part of the first generation of employees who were able to remain in Friedensau after work, living in the new municipal apartments. His love for his garden in front of his apartment and in the garden complex was quickly apparent to everyone.

The funeral service and subsequent burial will take place on Thursday, February 19, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Friedensau retirement home.
