Forest run for a good cause on April 26, 2026

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., students at Friedensau Adventist University invite you to participate in a “forest run for a good cause.” Start: 3:00 p.m. at the caravan park on Ahornstraße, opposite the fire station. The 2026 Forest Run is an anniversary run, the tenth to take place since 2014, not counting breaks due to COVID-19. This year, the donations will support the children's and youth departments of the Möckeraner Turnverein 1921 e.V. sports club.

The club offers handball and soccer teams for many children and young people in the region, giving them the opportunity to experience team sports. This includes a training camp for the soccer kids and an overnight training camp for the handball girls aged 10 to 15. In 2026, a beach handball tournament is to take place on the Baltic Sea, as well as a training camp for the soccer kids – the donations will be used for this and for additional materials and equipment.

Schedule for the day of the forest run:

1:30–2:30 p.m. Registration for runners, late registration for runners who have not yet registered

3:00 p.m. Start of forest run

Start: Friedensau caravan site, Ahornstraße – opposite the fire station

5:30 p.m. Award ceremony

For the anniversary run, the student council and organizer Kathrin Taraba, whose “main job” is studying theology, being a wife, and mother of two children, have planned some special attractions:

First of all, the “10th Forest Run for a Good Cause” will feature culinary delicacies such as fresh waffles, popcorn, cotton candy, a barbecue stand, sponsor stands, and games and fun for children. In addition, all institutions that have received donations over the past ten years will have the opportunity to present their projects—and, if possible, participate in the run.

The patron of this event is once again District Administrator Dr. Steffen Burchhardt, who has been supporting the forest run for years! The main sponsors are once again Stadtwerke Burg and Friedensau Adventist University. But how are the necessary donations collected? It works like this: for every lap a runner completes, a sponsor donates a certain amount. The sponsor can be a company that has agreed to support the project, any relative, or the runner themselves. One lap is about two kilometers long. For children, seniors, and people with walking disabilities, there is a lap that is about one kilometer long. Water dispensers are available along the route for refreshment.

Spontaneous registration on site is also possible shortly before the start between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Would you like to support the project without running yourself, but don't have a runner? No problem. You can also register as a sponsor via our website and will then be assigned to a runner without a sponsor.
