Intensive Greek Course begins at FAU

16. Sep. 2026

The new academic year at Friedensau Adventist University (FAU) has begun with the intensive Greek course, which is held at the start of the semester. Sixteen theology students are participating. The group is absolutely enthusiastic and motivated to learn the original language of the New Testament. Prof. Dr. Igor Lorencin follows the proven method developed by Reto Schoch and his textbook »Griechischer Lehrgang zum Neuen Testament« (Greek Course on the New Testament). The textbook is used in class to master grammar, syntax, and exercises. Six class hours daily—out of a total of 200 hours—prepare students for the Graecum final exam. Passing this language exam qualifies students to study theology at the FAU and to pursue subsequent exegetical courses, in which the language is applied directly to the New Testament text (Text: Andrea Cramer, based on information from Prof. Igor Lorencin).
