What Does It Mean to Follow God’s Call Today? – Insights into the Master’s Program in Pastoral Ministry at Friedensau

We posed this question to students in the “Pastoral Ministry” (MPM) master’s program at Friedensau Adventist University—a question that is less academic in nature and more deeply personal. Since 2022, this professionally qualifying Master’s program, which is geared toward pastoral ministry, has been bringing together aspiring pastors from all over Europe to deepen their understanding of theological foundations and expand their pastoral skills.

Developed on behalf of the Inter-European Division (EUD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the two-year, full-time program is taught entirely in English and intentionally combines theological depth with practical ministry preparation in a European context. Here, students reflect academically on the challenges of ministry while studying theology from an Adventist perspective within the rich cultural landscape of Europe.

For many, one of the most inspiring aspects is the international community. “I decided to join the master’s program because I desire to build our church with other future pastors from all over Europe and to develop contemporary ways of leading people to God,” says Itje Zepnik (Germany). Her words capture the heart of the program: studying together, growing together, and shaping the future of the church together.

Others describe the program as a life-changing turning point. “MPM has helped offer a great comeback and incentives for a new beginning,” shares Damir Šuper (Germany). After years in the corporate world, he found in Friedensau not only theological formation but also clarity about God’s plan for his life.

Students particularly value the practical relevance of the program. “The study program gives me a practical approach to ministry with well-equipped lecturers who are always open for questions and discussions—even outside of classes,” says Bogdan-Robert Antohi (Romania).

This is more than a degree—it is an invitation to serve God with deeper knowledge, stronger skills, and a broader international perspective.
