Lecture “Human Ecology in the Culinary Culture of the Thais”

The School of Social Science invited to a public lecture with Dr. Tung-Hoa Dang on Tuesday, 9 May. As part of the "Week of Cultures", which will take place from 7 to 14 May 2023 at Friedensau Adventist University, Dr Tung-Hoa Dang discussed culinary culture from a human ecology perspective and presented her extensive studies on Thai dishes in Northwest Vietnam. The links between culinary culture and gender relations as well as the contribution to biodiversity were the focus.

Dr. Tung-Hoa Dang received her PhD from the Technical University of Dresden and worked as an associate professor at the Vietnam National University of Forestry and Water Resources for 20 years. Her research topics are natural resource management, community forestry, human ecology and gender. Her lecture was part of the course "Land Use and Development" in the Master's programme in Development Studies, taught by Dr Jill Blau.
