University Choir Concert “Film Music”
01. Jun. 2026
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the University Choir invites you to a concert featuring “film music” at 6:00 p.m. at the Kulturscheune, An der Ihle 10. Ali Akkouch will conduct the evening. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
The concert takes place shortly before the end of the academic year. It also marks the conclusion of the extraordinary commitment of theology student Ali Akkouch, who took over the choir’s work at the university outside of his regular coursework while serving as a student assistant during a long-term substitution. With this concert, Ali Akkouch presents the ensemble’s vocal achievements to the audience, drawing on his newly gained conducting experience.
The program features the film scores “Conquest of Paradise,” known from the film “1492: Conquest of Paradise” starring Gérard Depardieu as Christopher Columbus; “I Will Follow Him” from “Sister Act” starring Whoopi Goldberg; “When You Believe” from “The Prince of Egypt,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” accompanies the Disney classic “The Lion King.” Ali Akkouch selected the pieces together with the choir’s singers. Akkouch is highly musical; he plays several instruments, including the flute, piano, and guitar.
With the “Film Music” concert, visitors are in for a musical evening that once again demonstrates just how exciting a concert can be—and shows just how much more inspiring it is to sing and make music yourself. A little tip: The choir is always happy to welcome new members; regular choir rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings during the semester. First of all, a warm welcome to this “Film Music” concert.
