Week of Prayer from March, 27, 2023

03. Apr. 2023

From March, 27, to April, 1, 2023, the students of Friedensau Adventist University and their guests will celebrate the Spring Week of Prayer 2023. Under the theme "Your Feast in the Desert. Dinner with God", Matthias Grießhammer, pastor in Erlangen-Forchheim, takes up the biblical narrative of the Exodus from Egypt to the encounter with God at Sinai. He relates it to the present and invites us to reflect together. This time, the week of prayer will be a "feast for all the senses" and everyone interested is invited to experience an encounter with God.

What is it about? Moses and Aaron demanded from Pharaoh that the people of Israel be given time off, because they wanted to celebrate a feast with their God in the desert and worship him. We know the story and where it ultimately led.
The questions that arise from it and can be relevant for each of us today: How do I come into encounter with the "host"? What are my oases in desert times? What gives me courage to change? How do I live spirituality, encounter with the sacred, the unavailable? In addition to the thematic impulses, there will be an experience for the senses on the evenings.

From Monday, March, 27, to Friday, March, 31, 2023, the theme evenings will take place at 7.30 p.m. each evening in the Barn Friedensau:

27 March | "On the Happiness of Being a Slave" – Freedom and Change Have Their Price
28 March | "The Feast of Freedom" – No alternatives?! God always has a way
29 March | "My oases in desert times" – Twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees
30 March | "When my strength fails" – Support when I am at my wits' end
31 March | "Dinner with God" – We celebrate communion in a very special way

On Saturday, April, 1, 2023, the week of prayer will come to a close with the 10.00 a.m. service in Friedensau Chapel. Matthias Grießhammer will preach the sermon: "Your Feast in the Desert". The invitation to the week of prayer is extended not only to students but to all interested parties.
