Friedensau Adventist University (FAU) is mourning the for its former Rector

Prof. Dr. phil. Dr. h.c. D. Litt. h.c. Baldur Ed. Pfeiffer

*October 2, 1937       October 16, 2018

It is with great sadness that we inform you that our former Rector Baldur Pfeiffer died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 82. After studying in England, Lebanon, and the USA, he received his doctorate from the University of Mainz. He taught at the Middle East College in Beirut and then, came as a professor to the Theological Seminary Marienhöhe, where he founded the "Archive for European Adventist History". After the state accreditation of FAU, he was appointed the first rector of FAU, which he headed until 1996. During this time, he laid the foundations of FAU and established the School of Social Sciences. With "Support Africa" he henceforth stood up for the development of African universities, especially in the fields of agricultural and health sciences. He was committed to the promotion of human rights and religious freedom throughout his life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.
