Statues:

The Institute for Protection of Ethnic, Linguistic and Religious Minorities of FAU is committed to research, education, and public relations work regarding the international phenomenon of minority. In addition to the processing and documentation of regional statistics, theoretical models, and methodological approaches to the various social, economic, political, legal, and cultural issues of minorities, the Institute also aims to make a practical contribution to tackle current problem areas and to develop appropriate intervention logic for the protection of minorities. The Institute is cross-linked internationally to institutions of the United Nations, civil society organizations, and minority organizations.

Objectives:  

1) the creation of a computer-aided database for ethnic, linguistic, and religious minorities in the international context

2) the conduct of own regional research and publications on the protection of minorities, especially on the right to education for ethnic, linguistic, and religious minorities for the preservation of culture and language

3) the cooperation with international and national public institutions, civil society organizations, and minority organizations

4) the establishment of a counseling center for the issues of minorities

5) the examination and documentation of the regional environment of migrants and minorities

6) the cooperation with the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma, based in Heidelberg
