Application period for the Master’s programme in Counselling extended

23. Sep. 2022

The application portal at Friedensau Adventist University (FAU) has been opened once again for the Counselling degree programme. It is possible to apply for the part-time Master's programme until September, 30, 2022: here.

The Counselling programme focuses on teaching the basics of working in the field of marriage, family and life counselling. It is suitable as further education in the field of social work and social pedagogy and other helping professions, but also as a specialisation for pastoral services in church congregations. The Counselling degree programme can be taken part-time in Friedensau as an option for working people who want to expand their professional skills or are planning a new career start.

Course director Prof. Andreas Bochmann, who is himself active in counselling practice, adds: "The course profiles help in coping with life for a wide variety of groups of people. This means not only helping to discover solutions to personal problems and questions and providing prevention through practical and relevant preparation for the challenges of life, but also generally accompanying people in their living environment in an appreciative way. Therein lies the deeply Christian concern to open up a perspective for real freedom for people." In contrast to in-service postgraduate further education programmes, the course includes a strong research component in addition to the teaching of theory, self-awareness and awareness of others, and a comprehensive internship under supervision. Through the Association of University Teachers for the Promotion of Counselling in Research and Teaching, the FAU is represented in the German Association for Counselling (DGfB) and meets the training criteria required for the counselling profession.
