Dr. Johannes Hartlapp explains exhibited watercolors

05. Jul. 2021

On Sunday, July 4, 2021, Dr. Johannes Hartlapp gave an entertaining introductory talk to the exhibition »Friedensau in Watercolors.« Very personal memories intertwined with the paintings of Karl Leukert, a teacher from Lübeck who regularly spent summer vacations in Friedensau with his family from the 1950s to the 1970s. Karl Leukert was the son-in-law of Hermann Kobs, a teacher at Friedensau Seminary. The exhibition shows watercolors of Friedensau views and from the surrounding area – as far as Magdeburg. Karl-Hermann Leukert, the son of Karl Leukert, found the watercolors in 12 exercise books in his father's estate and made them accessible in an exhibition with the support of the university library.

The watercolors on display are taken from an extensive illustrated book: Karl Leukert | Friedensau | Aquarelle 1958 - 1971 | Aus 12 Schulheften.

The exhibition opened on July 1 and will be on display in the University Library until the end of September 2021.
