27. Jan. 2021
The social scientist and lecturer at the ThHF, Dr. Friedegard Föltz, has published in German language a book with Verlag Beltz, Weinheim, entitled „Kinder mit Behinderungen in der Pflegekinderhilfe. Perspektiven und Herausforderungen sozialer Elternschaft.“ In it, based on interviews with foster parents who have taken in a child with disabilities, a concept of ways of dealing with the resulting challenges is generated. The socio-educationally oriented work with general educational dimensions examines foster parents' subjective processes of experience and education. The result shows that foster parents develop three different patterns of dealing in response to the challenges posed by a foster child's special needs, which are grounded in personal self- and world-relations.
Friedegard Föltz, Dr. phil., is a lecturer in social work at Friedensau Adventist University. Her work focuses on child and youth welfare research, foster child research, special care for children and adolescents with disabilities.
