8th SARS-CoV2 Containment Ordinance in force

The state of Saxony-Anhalt has further relaxed the regulations, especially in the private sector, with the 8th regulation for the containment of corona infection. There are no new requirements for our course planning in the winter semester 2020/2021, so that we continue to plan with classroom courses. Students can inform themselves about the current course planning on CampusNet.

Attendance studies in the winter semester 2020/21

The group sizes and spatial conditions on the Friedensau campus allow us, in accordance with the regulations of the 7th SARS-CoV-2 Containment Ordinance of the State of Saxony-Anhalt of 30 June 2020, to conduct face-to-face teaching in small groups starting in the winter semester of 2020 while observing the corresponding hygiene regulations. Provided that no stricter regulations for university operations have to be put into force in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, attendance studies can be started in the winter semester 2020/21.

6th SARS-CoV2 Containment Order in force

The state of Saxony-Anhalt relaxed the regulations with the 6th Containment Order. From now on, 10 people can meet in public, 20 people can celebrate together on private occasions and events can be held up to 100 people with professional organisation. The text of the VO is linked here.

New regulations for the sport

The new ordinance also allows university sports to be offered again. The sports group leaders are responsible for this. More detailed information can be found here: Coronanews from 28 May

5th SARS-CoV2 ContainmentOrder in force since yesterday

Since yesterday, the state of Saxony-Anhalt has relaxed the restrictions necessary to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now allowed to leave the house without an important reason and to stay outside or inside with up to 5 persons. It is also possible to do sports outside together without physical contact and in compliance with the minimum distance. The text of the  can be viewed here: 5. SARS-CoV2 CO EN

Library opening

Starting tomorrow, the library can also be reopened to the public. The hygiene regulations must be observed. These are posted in the library and can be viewed here: Library hygiene regulations EN

Opening of universities

Due to the SARS-CoV2 CO, the Ministry of Science of the country has issued a directive for the exceptional implementation of face-to-face teaching. We are currently examining the notification of teachers as to which courses can necessarily be carried out in attendance. The necessary hygiene concepts are currently being introduced.

Mask obligation in Saxony-Anhalt

Yesterday, the first amendment to the 4th SARS-CoV2 Containment Ordinance was published, requiring everyone to wear a "textile barrier in the sense of a mouth-and-nose protection" when using buses and trains and when entering shops.

Such a mouth protection can also be a scarf or cloth. As FAU, we want to provide at least a mouth and nose protector to every member of the university who does not yet have one. Please contact us at "> if necessary.

Presence teaching only possible from 3 May onwards

The Ministry of Science has announced that it will not allow exceptions for classroom teaching until 3 May. Until then, a guideline will be developed and issued together with the universities, which will define the permissible exceptions to the "digital semester", which in principle will continue to be "digital". It is therefore to be assumed that this week and next week all courses will still be offered in online mode and that only in 10 days individual courses will also take place in the classroom.

4. SARS-CoV-2 Containment Order of  Saxony-Anhalt and fines

Since yesterday there is a new regulation of the state of Saxony-Anhalt concerning the current corona situation https://www.thh-friedensau.de/content/uploads/4._EindaemmungsVO.pdf.  The initial restrictions will remain in place until 3rd of May. There is an exemption regulation for the operation of higher education institutions, which, however, first has to be concretized by the Ministry of Science of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. We therefore assume that next week's teaching will continue to take place completely as distance learning. However, we ask all students to check CampusNet daily to find out the location and type of courses.

Library

The 4th bylaw LSA allows us to make the library accessible to university members again. From Monday (20.4.) you can enter the library with your transponder and use the library like before. The hygiene conditions and distance rules must be strictly observed.

3. SARS-CoV-2 Containment Order of  Saxony-Anhalt and fines

Yesterday the government of Saxony-Anhalt has issued the "third SARS-CoV-2 containmentOrder", which brings no  significant changes to the previous situation. We will inform you about relevant effects for us on Monday.

The government of the state of Saxony-Anhalt today issued a list of fines to enforce the contact restrictions. It states, among others, that the following fines are to be paid for the following violations: Entering playgrounds - 100 €, joint activities of more than two persons in public (no family) - 250 €, celebrations/barbecues/ picnics in public - 250 €.

2. SARS-CoV-2 Containment Order of  Saxony-Anhalt

As of 0:00 today, the 2nd SARS-CoV-2 ContainmentOrder came into effect. This concretizes the initial restriction of Sunday and replaces the first containment regulation.

In terms of content, not much has changed compared to before. The most important statement is in § 18: "Everyone is urged to reduce physical contact with other people outside the members of their own household to an absolutely necessary minimum. Wherever possible, a minimum distance between two persons of 1.5 metres is to be maintained." This regulation is initially valid until 5.04.2020.

Cafeteria operation - breakfast and dinner

According to § 4 of the 2nd SARS-CoV-2 Containment Ordinance, "restaurants" must be closed. Our cafeteria is not a restaurant and in agreement with the Jerichower Land Health Office the cafeteria can remain open for university members. This is possible in order to avoid cooking and eating together in the kitchens of the student dormitory. The cafeteria is closed to the public.

Restriction of the permission to go out (STAY HOME, STAY SAFE)

With effect from 23.03.2020 0:00 the country has imposed an order to stay home. This serves the purpose of limiting the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the country only allows you to leave your home if there are particularly important reasons to do so, and always keep a minimum distance of 1.5 metres - we recommend keeping 2 metres to other people who are not part of the family or who live in your own flat or room.

Schedule

Starting tomorrow, the lecturers will start with the courses that can be taught online. Please check your timetables on CampusNet from 7:00 p.m. today. Courses that cannot be taught online will be made up. If necessary we will try to use the lecture-free days before Ascension Day and have to see if we have to extend the semester. This also depends on the further development.

Call for prayer

A World Day of Prayer is proclaimed today on Sunday, 22 March at 12 noon local time. All Christians are asked to pray at home from 12:00 to 13:00 and to cover the globe within 24 hours. Let us pray together. More Information Corona-Information from March 22, 2020

Foreseeable developments for tomorrow

We assume that today, during the course of the day, further restrictions will be decided nationwide, which will then be implemented and ordered tomorrow by the state government. As soon as we have the concrete rules for our federal state, we will implement them through appropriate measures. Please check your eMails and the website of the university regularly.

At this point we would like to make two urgent requests:

  1. please observe the rules of hygiene (on the website www.thh-friedensau.de/en/coronainfo)
  2. avoid contact with others and especially with persons outside of Friedensau. Stay in Friedensau, avoid trips to Möckern or elsewhere as far as possible. Since we also know that a complete break off of contact to the outside is not possible, there is also the necessity in Friedensau to avoid close contact and to limit it to a few persons.

#SocialService wanted

In a time like this - which we all haven't experienced yet - we want to stand together and especially protect our older siblings and residents of Friedensau, also those who are still mobile and currently go shopping by themselves.
A canteen food delivery service and a shopping service (two days a week) are planned. We are looking for you for one of these services!

Today the country's decree for the containment of corona infection was published. The university management has decided on the following regulations for implementation:

Implementation of the SARS-CoV-2 containment regulation

Most important: From 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, no more lectures will be held until 19 April 2020. Which alternatives are offered online for which courses, and how the cancelled courses will be made up for, will be decided in the next few days.

Status:  March 17, 2020, 9 a.m.
  1. To prevent infection, the serving rules and the arrangement of the tables in the cafeteria were changed. We urge all students to make use of the services of the cafeteria and not to cater for themselves in the communal kitchens. We would like to point out that cooking in the rooms is prohibited for fire protection reasons.
  2. The university's events are continually evaluated, redesigned or cancelled at your risk: Overview.
  3. During the BUW, Wednesday, 9.45 a.m., there will be further information for students.
  4. We assume that the measures adopted by the Federal Government and the Länder will be translated into concrete regulations in the next few days. We will of course comply with these concrete regulations. Until then, the decisions made will apply, especially regarding courses. The concrete threat situation has not changed since yesterday for Friedensau and the university.
  5. Based on the feedback received via the health form, all students and teachers can assume that there is no increased risk of infection with Corona among the other participants present. As a precautionary measure, two students were forbidden to participate in (teaching) events.
Status: March 16, 2020, 5 p.m.

All Friedensauer institutions agreed this afternoon to pursue common goals to slow down the infection with the CIVID-19 virus in accordance with the recommendations of the RKI. Joint statement.

Status: March 12, 2020, 3 p.m.

Today at noon the Ministry of Science, Saxony-Anhalt, has informed us, that the state-owned universities in Saxony-Anhalt will start the regular course offer on April 20, instead of April 6. The current examination dates will be postponed to a date after April 20.

This order does not concern Friedensau Adventist University, which will start the regular course offer next Monday, March 16. University Management Board has decided, that a postponing of the semester start by 5 weeks for the ca. 200 students at FAU is not appropriate. The 146 full time students are mostly already here at FAU campus. The class size of max. 35 students makes possible with the definded tasks for individual risk evaluation sufficient possibilities to avoid infections.

Friedensau is an international campus university. We study and live in close community, that’s why we want to face this situation in an adequate way. This means, that university administration will react together with retirement home, the community, the local church and with the responsible authorities to the current development. The taken actions are valid until further notice and can changed or recharged any time. We recommend to check emails and website regurarly.

World Health Organisation (informationen https://www.who.int) has defined the spreading of  Covid-19-Virus am 11.03.20 as pandemic. In Germany, Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI) is the responsible information authority. At the RKI-Website you can find all information about the virus and the disease. https://www.rki.de/EN/Home/homepage_node.html

Actions

Semester begin:

For semester begin we ask all students and staff to inform us via online form, if they suffer from acute respiratory symtomps or non specific medical conditions, such as ague, lassitude or debility, had contact during last 14 days with a person with positive proof of corona-virus (SARS-CoV-2) or stayed during last 14 days in a risk area stated by Robert-Koch-Institute (https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Risikogebiete.html). City of Wuhan), in South Korea: provinceGyeongsangbuk-do (North-Gyeongsang), in France: Region Grand Est (this region includes Alsasse-Lorraineand Champagne-Ardenne).

Students and staff with ague or two positive answers, we ask to stay away from university events (lecture, sports, church, etc.) or cafeteria and library. Students and staff, who have disease symptoms and belong to a risk group, we ask to stay home. Affected students in dormitory and apartments please contact the Dean of Students (Jens Schwenger -140) and the students’ service (Renate Dost -599) They will help you to contact the doctor by phone.

We have the urgent request for all students and staff, to follow the 10 hygiene rules (https://www.infektionsschutz.de/coronavirus-sars-cov-2.html#c11961):

  1. Wash your hands regularly
  2. Wash your hands thouroghly 30 sec. with soap and running water

Events

For all events a responsible and individual check is necessary, whether this event actually has to take place. We encourage to renounce events with a lot of participants (more than 200) or participants from far away, and to hold the events as short as possible.

As a rule, at Friedensau Adventist University we have events with a managable size of participants and sufficient large rooms. If all students and staff follow the tasks above, the risk of an infection is very low. The same applies for the normal life in Friedensau and its surroundings. That’s why we don’t see the necessity to cancel or move events and lessons. We check, if we have to cancel individual events because of the special risk situation.

Business trips

Business trips in risk areas stated by RKI are forbidden by service regulation, same for transit through these areas. In addition we ask for attention and responsible action at travel planning and guest service, especially against the setting of duty in respect of care and supervision.

Home office

If possible, agreements about home office as a special measure for health prevention can made directly between superior and staff, in writing per email. Please clear all questions on this way, accessibilty has to be guaranteed. Rules for deputizing have to be fixed in time.
